Cushion cover, hand-stitched in Belgium. The Lana cover was made in May 2026 and it is one of a kind.

Fabric

Composition: 100% wool.

The fabric used for the Lana cushion cover is a vintage Italian fabric, likely from the mid-to-late 20th century. It is made of an extra fine wool, with a lovely butter yellow base colour, and blue, red and green checks.

This fabric was made in Italy by the lanificio - or wool mill - Mario Zegna. Mario was the brother of renowned Italian designer Ermenegildo Zegna.

The Zegna brothers took over their father’s modest wool mill in Trivero, northern Italy, in 1914. Together, they grew the business for decades, until in 1941 they decided to part ways and the family business was split in two: ‘Lanificio Mario Zegna’ and ‘Lanificio Ermenegildo Zegna & Figli’.

Mario Zegna ran his lanificio in Trivero until his death in 1972. Under his helm, his mill would become known for its high-quality fine wool textiles, which showcased the excellence of the Made in Italy textile industry.

The Lanificio Mario Zegna continued to operate until 2004, when it changed its name to ‘Puro Tessuto’. It finally ceased operations in 2013.

The Lana cushion cover is sewn entirely by hand. It is removable.
